It’s been an action packed Summer
with RV adventures to Cowichan
Lake, Qualicum First Nation Campsite,
Beachcomber RV Park, Loveland Bay
Provincial Park, Gold River, Elk Falls
Provincial Park, We Wai Kai Campaite
at Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island and
Smelt Bay Provincial Park and Hague
Lake on Cortes Island to name a few of
the spots that we were able to sneak
away to.
One of our many highlights was
spelunking for the first time at the
Upana Caves, located about 17 Km’s
towards Tahsis from Gold River. It was
about 12 km’s of gravel logging road
to travel but worth every bump! Do
not miss the chance to enjoy this 8th
Wonder of the World. It boasts an
amazing underground river and white
marble rock walls with over 14 different
cave entrances. And, it is an absolutely
beautiful drive (paved highway) from
Campbell River to Gold River along the
Upper Campbell Lake.
Another highlight was swimming at
the white sand beaches of Hague Lake
on Cortes Island. Remember to pick your
ferry crossings based upon boarding
during high tides so you don’t drag your
tail getting on and off the ferries.
And a personal thanks to Brook and
Mary Kiddle and their wonderful group
of friends who welcomed us with warm
open arms to their Group Campsite
at Loveland Bay. Brook and I went to
school together right from Grade One
and it was great to reconnect and enjoy
some fun and relaxing time together
